Match flow and exact timers
At a glance
| Phase | Default deadline | What happens when it expires |
|---|---|---|
| Initial discard | 60 seconds from match creation | Every player who has not answered submits an empty discard; their original five cards remain. |
| Map pick | 45 seconds from the start of the pick phase | CompCube automatically selects the first remaining map in the picker's list. |
| Score submission | 30s + 1.5 × adjusted map duration | Each missing player receives a zero score marked timedOut; the round resolves. |
| Round results | 6 seconds after a non-final round | The next pick phase begins with a fresh 45-second timer. |
| Administrative custom timer | Operator-defined | The timer completes and changes no match state. |
The times shown above are the normal CompCube settings. Always follow the timer shown in-game.
1. Initial discards
Each competitor receives five different maps. You may discard up to two of those original maps. In the current plugin, you open and discard them one at a time; the plugin remembers both choices and submits them together after the second discard. If you want to keep all five maps or discard only one, press Hold to finish early.
You can submit discards only once. Every discarded map is then replaced with another map from the pool that you have not already been shown. These replacement maps cannot be discarded.
When both players submit, the discard timer is cancelled and the first pick starts immediately. When time expires, empty submissions are applied for missing players, then the first pick starts.
Your match page keeps one clear entry for each step: the initial hand, your submitted discards, and any replacement maps. It does not list every dealt card as a separate action. Automatic entries say that the timer expired and that CompCube acted for the player who had not answered. Hover an entry to see how long the action took and how much time remained.
2. Alternating picks
Round 1 belongs to red, round 2 to blue, and turns continue alternating. You choose from your own remaining maps, and a played map cannot be chosen again. If your 45 seconds run out, CompCube automatically chooses the first remaining map in your list.
3. Playing and score deadline
Both players receive the same map, difficulty, characteristic, and modifiers. The score timer allows the adjusted song length plus half of that length and an additional 30 seconds:
playback rate = 0.8 (Slower Song), 1.2 (Faster Song), 1.5 (Super Fast Song), otherwise 1
adjusted duration = map duration / playback rate
deadline = map start time + 30 seconds + adjusted duration + adjusted duration / 2Example: a 120-second normal-speed map allows 30 + 120 + 60 = 210 seconds. A 120-second Faster Song map has a 100-second adjusted duration and allows 180 seconds.
When both scores arrive, the round finishes immediately. A score that does not arrive before the timer ends becomes zero. The opponent's successfully submitted score remains valid.
After a non-final round, CompCube shows the result and updated health for six seconds. The following player's 45-second map-pick timer does not begin during this display; it starts only when the results phase finishes. If staff pause during the results phase, its remaining display time is preserved.
4. Round resolution
Accuracy compares your score with the highest possible score for that map. Only the lower-accuracy player takes damage:
damage = absolute accuracy difference × round multiplier
rounds 1–2 multiplier = 1
round 3 onward multiplier = round number × 1.5Health never drops below zero. Equal accuracy deals no damage. The match ends when a health value reaches zero or neither hand has an active pick left. If both reach zero, or final health is equal after map exhaustion, the match is a draw. Otherwise the player with health remaining—or higher health after exhaustion—wins.
Pauses and restarts
Staff can pause a match. Every active countdown stops with its remaining time and continues from that point when the match resumes. Authorized staff can also finish a timer immediately when resolving a problem.
Timers are saved, so restarting CompCube does not reset them. If a deadline passes while the service is restarting, the overdue action is handled after it comes back online.
